Easy setup, remote extender that always JUST WORKS, May 27, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Niles Audio FG01586 Remote Control Anywhere Kit for Home Theater Application (Electronics) In the last stage of a home theater build for a friend we ran into a problem where we needed to get remote signals to a cabinet, but found most of the reviews of Logitech RF products lacking. With the mindset that whatever I setup has to work no matter what, I started searching for affordable, but still reliable alternatives. In steps the Niles remote repeater, which uses a wired receiver to send commands back to equipment hidden away. I already had unused CAT6 going from the media cabinet to the TV, so everything was pre-wired.
Setup is as simple as taking it out of the box, plugging in AC and the IR senders, and connecting four wires to the correctly labeled spots on an adapter plug. After that it just works. No learning, no complicated software, no special modes... it just works.
The only item I think could be useful is a way to disable the blue blinking LED on the receiver. It blinks each time IR is picked up. Depending on your client, some may be adverse to... Read more

Works Flawlessly with U-Verse and All Other Components, October 3, 2011 By B-Dawg's Dad (Tulsa, OK) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Niles Audio FG01586 Remote Control Anywhere Kit for Home Theater Application (Electronics) When I recently had U-verse installed, I learned that 1) it uses an apparently new or uncommon IR protocol, and 2) plasma TVs put out a lot of interference. Like many u-verse users, my remote control worked inconsistently at best. Add to that the fact that all my A/V components sit hidden away on the other side of the wall, so I was using an IR Replicator which wasn't compatible with this new protocol, and was sending interference from the TV through to the other side of the wall. It was beyond frustrating to have to hit the remote control buttons several times (which becomes exponential frustration with a DVR when u need to go back from FF to Play!).
I was pointed toward the Niles Audio products on the AT&T forums, and even though the remote anywhere kit was a bit pricey, it was well worth it. Installation was actually fairly easy (I already had all my other wires running through the wall behind the TV that I ran the cat-5 for the IR Receiver through), and although it... Read more
