Major dissapointment, January 3, 2004 By This review is from: RCA RCU600WMS Universal 6 Device Remote Control (Electronics) First, it is only minimally compatible with my Proscan television, which is a product of the same corporate entity (Thomson). You would think that they would want it to work well with their own products!Secondly, there were no codes in it for my Apex AD-600A DVD player or my Memorex VCR. These aren't antiques, nor are the too new to be known by this remote. I went through the entire code search process, trying every code for both devices.
Thirdly, when we finally started using it for TV only (when the original remote wore out), it was incredibly flaky, and had to be whacked firmly several times a day. Very unreliable battery contacts!
Completely unsatisfactory!
I gave up and bought a Philips/Magnavox PM625. Controls everything I have. Easy to set up. It can even do learning if there's no matching code. All for a couple of dollars more.

I am so pleased!, December 23, 2005 By This review is from: RCA RCU600WMS Universal 6 Device Remote Control (Electronics) The remote that came with the TV had died, so I ordered this replacement. After putting in the batteries, it worked immediadely with my TV, VCR and DVD. It even works with Gold Guide! I will say, though, that all my components are RCA.
I'm going to order another one.

Disapointed technically savvy guy, January 4, 2005 By Dan Brown (Asheville, NC USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: RCA RCU600WMS Universal 6 Device Remote Control (Electronics) I'm the guy everyone comes to, to program their VCRs, digital clocks, computers, etc. (I'm a computer sysadmin professionally, so I'd like to think I could figure this thing out; not the case). This remote does not work for me in several areas... it only works well with my TV, Sharp.
I have a Samsung combo DVD/VCR which the remote half way works with, but will only change channels with, not power off or on or switch back and forth. This item does not work at all with my brand new KLH audio entertainment system. I would not be so upset, but the RCA website and phone numbers offer no support or information as to possible solutions, or lack there of, in a knowledgebase or something similar. My plan is to return this unit and get the PhilipsMagnavox PM625S as suggested in another review.
