Almost Perfect For Me, January 31, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: One For All OARI06G Infinity Smart 6 Device Remote Control (Black) (Electronics) I already own a Sony RM-VL600 which I bought on Amazon last year, so I knew that some low-end screenless remotes are equipped with features like high dollar models. That Sony remote has great macro and learning features, but the button layout is lacking for modern devices. After I got a satellite DVR recently, I knew I had to do something, so I decided to get this One For All.
My Setup and the PS3:
I needed a remote to control an HDTV, PS3 (with a tooth fairy IR adapter I already own) as blu-ray and netflix player, satellite DVR/tuner, and an IR-controlled HDMI switch. This thing works perfectly for all of them except the PS3, and even there it is almost flawless. If using the power button programmed for a sony dvd player (which acts like a playstation button on a controller), you have to be careful because holding it down too long will trigger the power off macro if you are in an activity mode. Great, but poorly supported, March 1, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: One For All OARI06G Infinity Smart 6 Device Remote Control (Black) (Electronics) I bought this to replace an aged One-For-All URCxxxx (I don't recall the specific model number) that had finally given up the ghost. I debated between this and the Logitech Harmony 300, which is similarly robust and priced about the same. I chose the One-For-All because of my good experience with the older model, and because of the horror stories I'd read about having to go online to set up the Harmony.
I have a pretty simple setup: Panasonic plasma TV, Sony DVD player, Harman Kardon A/V receiver, Comcast Motorola cable box. The SimpleSet instructions for setting up the OAR106G couldn't be much easier: first, you set up each individual device by
- holding the setup key until the light blinks
- selecting the device you want to set up
- entering a 1-digit number for the brand of your device

We have owned several remotes over the years that boast that they were the only remote you need. The "One For All SmartControl" is the first that really fits the bill.
My husband was historically the one who had to control the set-up for movies, music, DVR, and TV (I'm not very tech savvy). Dealing with six remotes and all of the combinations of settings was a nightmare to me. To this day, I do not understand all of the settings and possibilities when trying to watch a simple movie. When he bought universal remotes in the past, they would do some of the basic functions of the original remotes: volume, channels, DVD chapters, etc., but about half of the functions on the original remotes were left out or inaccessible. We still needed the originals.
